Save The Children

Pneumonia is an unacknowledged epidemic which kills one child every 39 seconds and claims the lives of more than 800,000 children under the age of five every year. In 2019, I travelled to Kenya with Save The Children to gather stories of those who were suffering with the disease. Pneumonia is curable (it can easily be treated with low-cost antibiotics if properly diagnosed) and preventable (with vaccines). However, it continues to affect the most deprived and marginalised children every day. This series captures both heartbreak and joy as children and their families struggle to overcome the odds in the hospital ward.
